Some surface preparation will be required if applying Glaze Coat over an already coated surface. Oil-based coatings and most waxes will prevent Glaze Coat from adhering to the surface--causing a “fish-eye” appearance. It is recommended to prep the coated surface with one of the following methods:
COATING OVER OIL-BASED COATINGS OR WAXED SURFACES: Hand sand the oil-based coating or wax surface with 400 grit sandpaper (power sanders are not recommended because they may leave “swirl” marks). It is very important that the oil-based coating or wax be completely sanded/removed or Glaze Coat may have difficulty adhering sufficiently. If Glaze Coat does not sufficiently adhere to the surface, more than one coat of Glaze Coat will be required. Wipe clean with a cloth dampened with alcohol or acetone. DO NOT use a tack cloth. Apply Glaze Coat.
